Happy Easter Holidays!
Hey Dads,
We took the week off last week to connect with family and friends, and enjoy the kids whilst off school. We still have another week to go, and we’re gearing up for Easter - are you ready?
Easter for us is not a religious affair, but for some of you it will be. However you choose to celebrate though, may there be arts, crafts, good food, cake, and heaps of chocolate in your future. And, don’t forget to Dad-tax the heck out of the millions of eggs your kids may receive, or find!
We’re fortunate enough to have kids that still believe in the Easter Bunny; learning first about the story of Eostre and the Hare - something recently communicated by English Heritage via their Easter Adventure Quest literature for children. If you’re looking for a story to read to kids this holiday, then ‘Eostre And The Hare’ is a good one.
Our Easter baskets are fully stocked and ready to go. We’ll hide them around the house and then the kids go on a hunt for them. Baskets have been found in various places over the years, including inside the tumble dryer!
Later in the day, there’s a knock on the door and two letters can be found from the Easter Bunny - they are personalised for each child and point out some of the great things they’ve been doing lately - from behaviour to personal achievements.
The letter also tells them to get ready for an egg hunt and so from that point, it’s chaos with making sure everyone is appropriately dressed, with shoes on and then getting out the door and down to the local park. One of us has already been down to plant the eggs, so then it’s just a case of running around like crazy, filling baskets with chocolate eggs covered in shiny foil.
After so much egg-citement, it’s then back home for a lovely meal, followed by a home-made cake, and later, more chocolate! We love to put an Easter film on too - “Hop” is our family favourite, but if you’re looking for ideas, check out this list from Country Living: https://bit.ly/mandadeastermovies
Easter weekend is typically a relaxed affair, and with two Bank Holidays involved, what’s not to love? Extra time off (hopefully, if you’re not working) and so more time to relax and enjoy with the kids.
DIY projects over Easter weekend see an increase and no doubt there will be some of you out washing cars, or cutting the grass. The kids may already be nagging for the paddling pool to go up, but if the weather is really good then BBQs will be firing up, and quite possible, a few cold beers may be sunk!
Enjoy it Dads, and make the most of the long weekend if you can. Connect with friends and family, eat, drink (or not) and be merry. Watch the kids go crazy on all the sugar, and sink into bed knowing that you’ve nailed it for another year.
And if your kids don’t believe in the Easter Bunny, that’s ok. They will have just as much fun and love every second of the long weekend with you!
